I communicate on various topics every single day. Whether it be texting and updating my class in the Class of 2025 group chat, or my leadership councils group chat. I share school events on my personal social media account, I also run the class account and manage what gets posted and when (1.6). I will occasionally write the date of class events and big events coming up on the white board of teachers classrooms, only after I have received permission from the teacher. Also, with the use of social media, I can communicate with friends and classmates outside of leadership about current and future school events (1.11). I actively participate in class meetings delegating the meeting itself and discussing any necessary topics all while I get input from my class. During stressful times of the year like, homecoming, communication is key. Flower parties especially! Every flower party I would be up in front of my peers with a mic giving them the run down of what we need to get done. During the flower parties we would also practice our skit for the night rally. My dear friend Bella taught the skit but I was right by her side making sure everyone was giving her their attention and answering any questions asked about the skit while also taking suggestions and criticism on the skit (4.2). I would go back and forth between the area where we were practicing skit and where we were working to check in on the people who decided not to be in skit but still work inside. (4.4), (6.1)
That HOCO Friday is un-arguably the most stressful day of the week. There was a lot that went wrong this year and a lot of solutions to things that had gone wrong. One of the biggest problems we had was that our trailer was too long and narrow that one of our main decorations wouldn't've fit or looked right. I was lucky enough to be able to communicate with the people that were letting us use their truck and trailer and work out a way that they could get their other trailer that would be better. After everything was planned out they left to get the other trailer so we got to work delegating everyone so start finishing the projects we had created to put on the float and also brainstorm other things we could put on the float to fill it up! (5.3), (7.10) This year I had an amazing opportunity to be one of the MC's at the homecoming right rally. I got to improve my public speaking skills by presenting a few groups to hundreds of students, staff, and parents in the stands and on the field! I got to be partnered with a friend of mine in leadership that brought us closer together in a school oriented way! (3.1) (7.1) |
Over the course of my underclassmen and half of my upperclassmen experiences, I have developed a large variety of friends within our student body. After going to CADA (California Association of Directors of Activities) Camp for two years in a row, I've learned how to reach out to people who feel both unseen and unheard and how to make them feel included. One of my favorite times I got to to do this was during our back to school week spirit days. Every day I got to post anyone that dressed up on the class of 2025 account to give them special recognition. I met so many new people through this process and have a feeling it made them feel involved more with the leadership family and have their famous moment on the class account! More focused on myself, I have become a more confident and social person from the start of my freshmen year where I was shy and didn't have much confidence. Now I have an abundance of confidence and I'm not afraid to talk to or reach out of anybody that may need or want my help. My school pride for Tracy high has greatly improved thanks to the help of this leadership program, the CADA conferences, and the leadership development that have showed me all the wonderful things about Tracy High. Leadership development day was so eye-opening for me to collaborate with leadership kids from other schools in Tracy to see what their leadership program is like and find similarities and differences. I made so many great memories and friends that day that I still keep in touch with especially with west high, our cross town rivals! Through them I got to meet and conversate with their leadership teacher Mr. Behnam. So, now I have a direct connection with another school's activities director which I think is so cool! Me and my lil sis for the summer, Poppy.

Because of the 100 hours of community service required my freshmen year, I have made connections and continued those relationships along with volunteering when I can. I especially enjoy volunteering for CYO youth sports, Tracy Animal Rescue Shelter, and the Rotary Events such as the Annual Senior Thanksgiving Dinner where I get to prepare meals for elderly individuals who either can't afford to make a meal themselves, physically unable to, or have no family to celebrate with during the holiday season. Although my schedule has gotten busy and I didn't have much time for volunteering, I was able to make up for it at my summer job at the Joe Wilson pool as a lifeguard. During the summer I learned new social and life skills. My conversational skills greatly improved while answering questions from patrons, giving directions, and assisting anyone that requires service. I had the opportunity to work at the front window for a short period of time to welcome people in to the pool and get them checked in and paid for while making small talk. I also learned many new things about adult life that I will need. For example, how to prepare for and have a professional interview, how to fill out time cards and fill out governmental paperwork. For part of the summer the pool had shut down because the pump for the pool had broken. During this time the city asked us to work at a summer camp that was being held in the community center that targeted kids between the ages of 5-15. During this time I got to work with kids and improve my skills with children younger than me while also practicing my patience because some of those kids were WILD. It was very fulfilling working around those kids and building a connection with them like siblings would. Being an only-child I got to appreciate this connection and be a role-model. After this summer I feel accomplished and have learned lots. (1.1),(1.3),(1.4),(3.1),(3.2),(3.3)

After being my class's treasurer for two years, and class president for half a year, I have learned how to manage the class account and our budget. I have also learned the importance of paperwork for events, records, recites etc... and have found an appreciation for donations. Fundraising is a topic that is hard for my class to make successful. My class and I have thought outside the box with great ideas that not always have been able to work out. A great example of this was our Tracy High Car Show. My classmates and I thought this was a amazing idea. We planned where, when, and how we would put it on and got to work immediately. We made social media advertisements and even got other car show groups to advertise our car show . We were expecting a great outcome but we unfortunately had not thought the car show all the way through. The district sent us a list of necessities we would need to put on a car show without any problems. The list included insurance for every car, portable restrooms etc... These necessities were all things we could not afford so we had to cancel our event. Although I was sad about it I realized that it would be for the best and avoid any legal problems we might've faced. My class and I still hope to be able to put a car show sometime in the near future, but will be more prepared and ready when the time comes. Besides just fundraisers, I am able to advertise other profitable events not only for my class but for other classes. Every class got to post and inform the student population about the 2023 Winter Formal. With fact that our freshmen chose and amazing theme, and that we blasted the school accounts with posts about it, there was a really good turn out at the Winter Formal Itself. I am an avid user of technology. I use technology to make posts, stories and any updates that go on our class account. I have found that Canva is most effective for my classmates and I. I have made the HOCO shirts and sweatshirts designs from Canva, so I am very grateful for the free app. I have also used technology and Weebly to make this website. Making a website was a new and challenging task for me. I am grateful that I have learned how to make a website for my future and learned good organization skills from it. One new use of technology this year was making the prom reveal video with Jake Hallen. Although he was doing the most editing I got to basically build the video from scratch with him. I told him the vision and he executed it in a way that reached our student population and advertised prom well! I have realized the impact of what you post online and the importance of keeping your page positive. I understand that what I post can change how people perceive both me and the leadership class as a whole. (1.3),(2.1),(2.2),(3.1)
